Carrera Academic Olympics

The Carrera Academic Olympiad was the culminating event in a semester long academic competition I designed, coordinated and facilitated for the Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, a multi-site, holistic adolescent pregnancy prevention program. This event brought together the winning teams in two grade levels (5-7) and (8-10) from each of eight sites to compete in eight separate events, ranging from "Tower of Power", an architectural challenge designed to access spatial intelligence, to "CSI:Animal World", a biological whodunit. I designed the competition to incorporate multiple intelligences, cooperative learning, and critical thinking. Almost one-hundred students participated on May 4th, 2007 at Martha Valle High School in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
