Alexios Moore is a creative non-fiction writer and educator whose writing utilizes traditional short story techniques to convey "real life" narratives. He earned an MFA in creative non-fiction from New School University, and has published work in H.O.W. literary journal and Pindelyboz. In 2007 he received a writing fellowship from the Edward Albee Foundation. Alexios is currently a writer-in-residence with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council where he is working on an ethnographic memoir tentatively entitled Field Studies which focuses on the different communities he has called home, from a village on the Arctic Sea to a collective in East Oakland.
As an educator Alexios has over ten years of teaching, curriculum design and program management experience. He began by working as an English teacher in Brooklyn high schools, and as a teaching artist for Teachers and Writers Collaborative. Since then he has managed educational programs for non-profits like Children’s Aid Society and Center for the Urban Environment, overseeing curriculum design, instructor training and program delivery. Currently, he teaches writing at Eugene Lang College and College of New Rochelle.
